History of Coronavirus

“Coronavirus” may seem unfamiliar to many, however almost everyone has encountered a milder form of the Coronavirus family virus.  The Coronavirus family with its known four human strains accounts for one-fifth of common cold cases occurring every year. Other strains of the Coronavirus family cause endemic diseases in certain animals. Until less than two decades ago, all known human strains of Coronavirus caused very mild disease so that research on coronavirus research was on a back burner.

In 2003, a virulent (aggressive) strain of the Coronavirus, which created the SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) outbreak in China. “Everybody in the field was shocked,” says microbiologist Susan Weiss of the University of Pennsylvania. “Scientists started paying attention to this group of viruses.” It is believed that the SARS outbreak was born when an animal strain (most likely civet cat) of coronavirus infected humans, resulting in a type of disease called a zoonosis. In 2012 researchers realized the Coronaviruses’ inclination for such jumps, especially when another strain of Coronavirus bounced from camels to humans, causing MERS (Middle East respiratory syndrome). That illness has killed 858 people to date, primarily in Saudi Arabia, representing approximately 34 percent of those infected. It is now certain that SARS, MERS and the new coronavirus all originated in bats. The most recent genetic analysis of the 2019-nCoV genome found that it shares 96 percent of its RNA with a coronavirus strain previously identified in a specific bat species in China. 


Immune-System Defense and Covid-19 Battle

The coronaviruses have special accessory proteins, which are involved in evading the host’s innate immune response (the body’s frontline of defense). When a healthy cell detects an invader like the Coronavirus it releases proteins called interferons. Interferons hinder the virus’s multiplication. The interferons initiate an overflow of viral destruction response by the host (the Invaded person). The body’s immune response covers an array of defenses ranging from shutting down host protein production to inducing cell death. 

Unfortunately, most of the time the overreaction of our immune system to the virus invasion may be very harmful. As a matter of fact, a big part of the deterioration caused by the Coronavirus is caused by a violent overreaction of the immune system causing overwhelming inflammation and destruction to the host. The power of the Coronavirus is actually determined by how much of a destructive vs protective immune response it induces. This aspect is also why underlying medical conditions are so important. The majority of the people who died from the coronavirus to date had other debilitating underlying diseases involving the immune system such as autoimmune diseases, or secondary infections. That’s why it is so important to treat people for comorbidities and perhaps initiate immediate antibacterial measures to stop bacterial infections.

Powerful viruses such as Coronavirus possess counterattacks to hinder the immune response’s power to eliminate invaders. This counteroffensive feature seems to be what differentiates different strains of the coronaviruses. The Coronaviruses members are closely related; however, they have different counteroffensive accessory proteins. The Coronavirus has evolved and mutated to shut down multiple aspects of the First Line defense (innate immune) response. Some researchers believe that bats can harmlessly harbor the coronaviruses as they do not mount the intense immune response humans do. Many of the signaling molecules that ignite our immune system are inactive. That is why bats are very good reservoirs for viruses that survive through hiding.”


Some scientists claim that the accessory proteins determine how deadly coronaviruses are.  

Four major types of Coronaviruses exist. They’re known by the Greek letter’s alpha, beta, delta, and gamma. Only the alpha and beta types are known to infect people. These viruses spread through the air. And just four of them (known as 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1) cause between one and three cases in every ten cases of the common cold. Usually, Coronavirus illnesses tend to be fairly mild and affect just the upper airways (nose and throat). But there are more severe cousins that can cause lethal disease. 


The Scary Corona Viruses

Two of the most well-known of the deadly types are responsible for SARS and MERS. Each of these diseases has caused global outbreaks in the past. In December 2019, another virus joined these dangerous cousins. Scientists are calling it SARS-CoV-2. The name reflects this germ’s close similarity to the original SARS coronavirus.

On February 11, 2020,  the World Health Organization started calling the disease this new virus triggers COVID-19, which  stands for coronavirus disease in 2019


 How the Virus is Spread

Contrary to the innocuous types of Coronavirus that usually spread in the air, COVID-19 lives on surfaces. It is spread in large droplets by coughing and sneezing, and all the surfaces where droplets land are infectious for up to a week depending on the surface. The COVID-19 Coronavirus infects the lungs and is contracted only if an unprotected face is directly coughed or sneezed upon, or if a contaminated surface is touched then eyes, nose or mouth are touched. 


Who Is at risk?

There are 2 main categories of people who are at risk for contracting the deadly COVID-19 Coronavirus mainly because their immune systems are not capable of mounting the proper immune response to protect against the virus. The first group involves the elderly who are often on many disease-modifying medications. The second group is the immunocompromised individuals who may often be on various immune suppression drugs such as HIV, cancer or autoimmune disease patients.  

Oddly enough children have been mostly spared worldwide from hospitalizations and major medical complications. It is not clear why this is the case, but scientists continue to explore their theories and may find an answer that helps us all.


How to effectively Prevent COVID-19 Coronavirus infection

Here are listing some effective precautionary steps to help reduce COVID-19 Coronavirus infection Risks:

  • Maintain Enough Distance

We need to avoid close contact with those who are sick. We even may consider staying at home when we are sick.  The effective minimal distance to be from anyone who is sneezing or coughing is at least 3 feet. Standing this far away can help prevent us from inhaling any liquid droplets containing the virus that could have been coughed or sneezed.

  • Clean and Disinfect Surfaces

Viruses can live on surfaces for up to 48 hours. In order to get rid of these viruses on those surfaces, we need to frequently clean and disinfect touched objects and surfaces using regular natural household cleaning spray or wipes.

  • Washing and Sanitizing our hands properly

Wash our hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom or after touching potentially dirty or contaminated surfaces. Develop the habit of washing hands before eating,  after blowing the nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Keep a bottle of sanitizer available in your car and at each of your home’s entrances; or better yet, in your pocket or purse. Wash hands with silver hydrosol that is in nano form e.g. Bio-Active silver hydrosol 10-ppm or better yet 23-ppm liquid or gel.

Avoid touching mouth nose and eyes to prevent covid-19 spreading
  • Avoid Touching Mouth, Nose and Eyes

Viruses stick to the skin of the hands from the surfaces that we touch. Touching the nose, mouth or eyes with unwashed hands can transfer the virus, allowing it to enter the body and cause infection.

  • Use Proper Hygiene Etiquette 

Sneezing or coughing directly into your elbow or better yet using a tissue to cover your nose and mouth can help prevent the spread of coronavirus. Be sure to throw away these used tissues immediately and then wash your hands thoroughly after exposure to any respiratory secretions. Avoid shaking hands; use fist or elbow bumps instead. Use your knuckles to hit elevator buttons etc. Carry paper towel or disposable gloves with you and use them to lift the gasoline pump dispenser, turn on lights in public spaces and to open doors, flush toilets, turn sinks on and off, etc. Open doors with your clothing covering legs, hips or closed fist if you forgot to bring paper towels/gloves. Use disinfectant wipes at stores and public spaces when they are available; if you plan to use a grocery cart bring wipes with you and wipe first.

  • Travelling into public places or confined to close quarters like airplanes:

Use the Silver hydrosol gel/spray on hands and in nostrils.  We would suggest using 1 spray each nostril and 1 spray in your mouth every 20 minutes and then wash your hands immediately after getting off the plane or leaving that public place. 

  • Using a facemask

The extremely immunocompromised or people who show symptoms of COVID-19 may consider wearing a full face and eye mask with a 2-micron filter (e.g. N95) that does not allow the virus to exit or enter. Standard medical/surgical mouth masks still allow the virus to be breathed in or exhaled through the mask.  The only possible benefit of that basic mask would be that when an infected person coughs or sneezes, the distance that the virus travels out of the mask could be reduced and large mucus particles would be trapped inside the mask reducing some of the volumes of virus that goes into the air or on local surfaces.


What if you think you were exposed?

If anyone does have accidental close exposure with you, then have them drink (hold in mouth for 60 seconds then swallow) two teaspoons at least twice a day of silver nanoparticles /silver hydrosol to help your immune system prevent viral infections. 

Drink lots of water and use a lot of freshly squeezed juice from lemons or limes. Squeeze the juice in your water and on top of your food.  Natural forms of vitamin C have over 100 forms of vitamin C that are hundreds of time more potent than the synthetic vitamin C (ascorbic acid) that are sold as pills over the counter or added to drinks

Health Impact

Coronavirus COVID-19 may be as much as 30 times more lethal than the typical annual flu. Both influenza and coronavirus cause an inflammatory storm in the lungs and it is this inflammatory storm that leads to acute respiratory distress, organ failure, and death.

Certain nutraceuticals may help to reduce the inflammation in the lungs from RNA viruses and others may also help boost type 1 interferon response to these viruses, which is the body’s primary way to help create antiviral antibodies to fight off viral infections.


Integrative Treatment — You Have Coronavirus Now What

Start the fight early 

When a person gets the first symptom or sign of an upper respiratory illness e.g. sore throat, congestion, runny nose, etc; it is paramount to start treatment.  The first symptoms mark the start of a race between the virus to multiply to take over your body versus your body’s immune system response to identify and kill the virus.  Many people will get this first symptom and ignore it or take very little action such as only just trying to get more sleep. Getting more rest is a good first step but a person needs to go a step further and start to help the body out. 

Before the advent of modern conventional medicine, traditional doctors in the East and Western herbalists used plants to help people overcome acute infectious illnesses. The appropriate herbal remedies were administered to alleviate symptoms while addressing underlying imbalances.

On the other hand, the focus of modern science is to define the specific cellular and molecular changes that take place in the presence of an infection. Research shows that certain immune-modulating compounds are associated with viral infections and the resulting symptoms. For example, the induction of interferons (IFN’s)is associated with host immunity and accounts for some of the host symptoms associated with infections, such as muscle aches and soreness. Studies show that NF-kappaB, another immune-modulating compound, stimulates the replication of acute viruses and is actually necessary for viral multiplication.

The goal of natural medicine is to target the virus with herbs known to inhibit viral replication and provide additional immune support. Furthermore, some of these herbs down-regulate the overactive immune response referred to as the “cytokine storm” as well as many herbal compounds are effective at reducing NF-kappaBeta.

A list of valuable Herbs and supplements that may help (in no particular order).

  • Echinacea: The herb Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea) is supportive of the immune system and has a direct antiviral action against colds and viral bronchitis. Preparations that include both the roots and the flowering tops are the most effective at helping the body resist the viruses.

  •  Liquorice(Licorice):  Liquorice contains a substance called glycyrrhizin that reduces the replication of viruses and halts their ability to penetrate and replicate inside healthy cells. It has been noted to be effective in the treatment of many viral illnesses including HIV strains and viral hepatitis.

  • Olive Leaf The leaves of Olive trees (Olea Europea) contain substances called elenoic acid and calcium elonate has been identified as a powerful inhibitor of a wide range of viruses in laboratory tests., including influenza, herpes, polio and coxsackie viruses. These substances block the production of enzymes that allow viruses to replicate.

  •  Pau D’Arco: Pau d’arco is an Amazon tree with healing inner bark that can treat colds, influenza, herpes, and viral stomatitis.

  • St. John’s Wort:  St John’s Wort is well-known for its ability to treat depression and neuralgia, but it also has potent antiviral chemicals that proactively fight off viruses. For the most effective results, it is highly recommended that at least two or three of these remedies in conjunction in order to vanquish viruses. 

  • Red algae: Some studies show that specific compounds isolated from red algae could help boost the function of the immune system. 

  •  IgY Max™ Hyperimmunized Egg Powder: Supports passive immunity in the intestine by providing Immunoglobulins and Immune regulating factors that promote intestinal and systemic health, balanced cytokine production.

  • Beta Glucan. beta-glucan is from baker’s yeast. It is a powerful immune modulator making it act more intelligently and effectively; Beta Glucan has been shown to be effective in preventing upper respiratory viral infections (colds and the flu) in several double-blind studies.  Also, it lowers the severity of influenza infection and mortality in animal studies.

  • Liposomal or S-acetyl Glutathione:  is an antioxidant produced in the liver which is important for immune function. It can possibly boost the immune system and help prevent a viral syndrome.

  • N-acetylcysteine (NAC):  NAC encourages glutathione production, thins mucus, lowers chances of influenza infection and reduces the risk of developing severe bronchitis.  NAC is primarily prescribed as a drug for the lungs and nasal passage to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases such as bronchitis and influenza-like conditions. It works as a cough medicine because of its ability to break the bonds in mucus, which makes it easier to cough them up. 

  • Spirulina:  inhibited virus infection and replication and thus reduced severity of influenza infection in some studies. In another trial, spirulina significantly lowered the viral load in patients with HIV infection.

  • Zinc preferably as Lozenges:Cochrane review provides convincing evidence from 13 randomized placebo-controlled trials that taking zinc soon after the onset of symptoms of the common cold significantly reduces both the duration and severity of symptoms.  . Zinc may work by preventing the virus from multiplying. It may also stop the virus from lodging in the mucous membranes of the throat and nose. Completely dissolve in mouth one lozenge containing 18.75 mg of zinc acetate every two waking hours. Do not exceed 8 lozenges daily, and do not use for more than three consecutive days at this dose.

  • Garlic: The sulfur compounds in garlic have been shown to increase the disease-fighting response of some types of white blood cells in the body when they encounter viruses. We suggest to take 9,000‒18,000 mg of a high-allicin garlic supplement each day until symptoms subside. Please make sure it is taken with food to minimize stomach irritation. 

  • Melatonin: known as the “sleep hormone” elicits properties as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and an immune modulator. In some studies, melatonin use during a viral syndrome significantly decreased the expression of TNF-α, IL-6 and IFN-γ, and increased the production of IL-10 and TGF-β. It is suggested to take somewhere between 3‒30 mg at bedtime.

  • Monolaurin is a fat found in coconut oil that is also available as a dietary supplement. It exerts some interesting antiviral effects with confirmed activity to viruses similar to coronavirus. Current research indicates that monolaurin dissolves lipids in the fatty envelope, basically disintegrating the virus protective shield and causing them to be easily destroyed by the immune system. Monolaurin is a glyceride ester derivative of lauric acid, a fatty acid found naturally in breast milk and certain vegetable oils.  This fatty acid has been used as a germicidal agent for centuries. Lauric acid was originally discovered when microbiologists studied human breast milk to determine the antiviral substances which protected infants from microbial infections. It has been shown to protect newborns, whose immune systems are underdeveloped, from Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and other respiratory tract viruses.  

  • Lactoferrin. It is a glycoprotein involved in immune response and several other functions (Baveye 1999). It is found in secreted fluids and is abundant in milk (breast and cow). Lactoferrin has well-documented antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties (Malaczewska 2019; Wakabayashi 2014; Ishikawa 2013). It appears to exert antiviral effects by activating the antiviral cytokines interferon (IFN)-α/β and boosting natural killer (NK) cell activity and Th1 cytokine responses (Wakabayashi 2014). Some studies suggest that lactoferrin administration may reduce the incidence and severity of common respiratory tract viral infections, like colds and flu (Vitetta 2013; Wakabayashi 2014). In 2005, researchers reported that the gene encoding lactoferrin was highly upregulated in patients affected during the SARS epidemic that emerged in 2003, suggesting that it plays a role in the innate immune response to the infection (Reghunathan 2005).

  • Astragalus root (Astragalus membranaceus) is a traditional Chinese medicine used to treat viruses . Clinical studies in China have validated it is effective when used as a preventive measure against the common cold. It has also been shown to reduce the duration and severity of symptoms in acute treatment of the common cold, as well as raise white blood cell counts in chronic leukopenia (a condition characterized by low white blood cell levels). Research in animals indicates that astragalus apparently works by stimulating several factors of the immune system. In particular, it appears to stimulate white blood cells to engulf and destroy invading organisms and cellular debris as well as enhance the production of interferon (a key natural compound produced by the body to fight viruses).
  • Probiotics. A growing body of evidence shows probiotic supplements with Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus species can enhance antiviral immune activity and may reduce the occurrence, severity, and duration of viral respiratory tract infections such as influenza (Lenoir-Wijnkoop 2019; Mousa 2017). Bacillus spores have been shown to dramatically increase immune tolerance, which means they help repair damage in your intestinal barrier. Since they’re not “live,” they’re also unaffected by antibiotics. The bacillus very effectively modulates cytokines — anti-inflammatory cytokines are upregulated while inflammatory cytokines are downregulated, thereby restoring the balance between the two. Research has also shown that spore biotics massively increase the reproduction of acidophilus, Bifidus and other microbes in your gut via the electromagnetic messages they send out. This is entirely unique and not like a regular probiotic.
  • Selenium. Selenium has important antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral activities in the body. “Since selenium is an essential cofactor for certain peroxidases, and selenium deficiency has been endemic in certain regions of China and other parts of the world, insuring adequacy of selenium nutrition might also be appropriate in this context,” McCarty and DiNicolantonio note, adding: “Selenium deficiency also increases the rate at which viruses can mutate, promoting the evolution of strains that are more pathogenic and capable of evading immune surveillance.”

  • Vitamin D3 from Solar ultraviolet-B radiation and supplemental vitamin D have also been shown to reduce pandemic fatality rates, which makes sense considering how important vitamin D is for controlling infections and lowering your risk for influenza and the common cold. As detailed in “Vitamin D Prevents Infections,” research shows high-dose vitamin D supplementation lowers the risk of respiratory illnesses and lung infections in the elderly by 40%. As noted by an author of that study, “Vitamin D can improve the immune system’s ability to fight infections because it bolsters the first line of defense of the immune system.  Vitamin D upregulates production of human cathelicidin, LL-37, which has both antimicrobial and antiendotoxin activities. Vitamin D also reduces the production of proinflammatory cytokines. As a general guideline, get your vitamin D level tested twice a year, in the winter and summer, to make sure you’re in a healthy range of 60 ng/mL to 80 ng/mL year-round. 

  • Cat’s claw  helps the body target viruses;recognised as a medicinal plant by the World Health Organisation (WHO) since the 1990. Biochemists attribute the healing effect to the indole and oxindole alkaloids, polyphenols and terpenoids contained therein. With these predominantly toxic substances, the plant apparently protects itself from the attacks of the fungi, viruses and bacteria omnipresent in the humid tropical forest. Cat’s claw was more effective in reducing symptoms such as swelling, skin reddening, and pain compared to prescription antiviral drug Acyclovir. Cat’s claw also prevented immune cells from being infected with dengue virus and reduced inflammatory cytokines TNF-alpha and IFN-alpha.

  • Oregano oil: its most active component called carvacrol helps boost the immune system.

  • Propolis A resinous material collected by honeybees from plants, propolis is used by bees to seal their hives and to prevent diseases within the hive. The natural antimicrobial compounds in propolis make it an excellent infection fighter and healing agent. The antiviral properties of propolis help to fight the virus and the sticky resin adheres to the mucous membranes in the throat, delivering the antiviral action precisely where the cold and flu viruses take hold and multiply. Propolis has the additional benefit of having mild analgesic and anesthetic properties. Some studies found that propolis extract possesses pronounced virucidal effect against herpes simplex viruses type 1 and type 2 and interferes with virus adsorption. 

  • Elderberry/Elderflower the berries are rich in vitamin C, quercetin and anthocyanins, which are believed to account for the therapeutic effects. Elderberry extract is used as a tonic to alleviate many cold and flu symptoms including runny nose, cough, sore throat, fever, and muscle pain. Recent research shows that the berry extract increases the IFN-β inducing activity of L. acidophilus in dendritic cells, which suggests antiviral and immune-enhancing activity. Recent israeli study demonstrates that  the H1N1 inhibition activities of the elderberry flavonoids compare favorably to the known anti-influenza activities of Oseltamivir (Tamiflu; 0.32 microM) and Amantadine (27 microM).  Elderberry extract inhibits infectious bronchitis virus at an early point during replication, probably by rendering the virus non-infectious. Elderberry extract binds to the tiny spikes on a virus protein that are used to pierce and invade healthy cells and destroys them so that the virus is ineffective.  

  • Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatumis native to North America, traditionally used to treat “break-bone fever” (Dengue fever). The plant induces profuse sweating which breaks the fever, which in turn relieves the intense aching pain associated with the flu. Boneset also thins mucus secretions, helping to break up lung congestion. In a 2013 study, researchers evaluated the immunomodulatory activities and protective effect of Eupatorium polysaccharide against the highly pathogenic H5N1 subtype influenza virus. They found that Eupatorium polysaccharide has immunomodulatory properties and is a potential prophylactic against H5N1 influenza infection. In additional research, the ethanol extract of boneset has shown cytotoxic and antibacterial effects. 

  • Honeysuckle (Flos Lonicera)
  • Honeysuckle (Lonicera), referred to as Jin Yin Hua in Traditional Chinese Medicine, is also used to treat Wind-Heat disorders and is categorized as an herb that Clears Heat and Cleans Toxins. Because Lonicera can address deeper layer Heat, it is not only useful for the sore throat, fever, thirst, and perspiration associated with an external disease, but is also beneficial for internal Heat and Toxins manifesting with high fever, strong thirst, and more severe sore throat.

Controlling the Inflammatory Cascade

It is essential to provide herbal support during an infection to buffer the many cellular pathways that are altered during both acute and chronic inflammation.

  • Andrographis extract (50% andrographolide) is used in traditional Chinese Medicine to treat viral infection, diarrhea, dysentery, and fever. Several studies evaluating andrographis and the common cold demonstrated improvement within two to four days of treatment. The immune-stimulating properties of Andrographis appear to be derived from antibody activity and phagocytosis by macrophages.

  • Lipoic acid: 1,200 to 1,800 mg daily helps boost type 1 interferon response.

  • Resveratrol:  a 2005 study in The Journal of Infectious Diseases also found resveratrol has the power to inhibit the replication of influenza A virus, significantly improving survival in influenza-infected mice. 

 Foods that may help to treat the virus and the overactive inflammatory response

  • Garlic has been prized for its medicinal properties for thousands of years. Garlic poses a triple threat to coronavirus. Garlic is antiviral, antibacterial and anti-fungal and it is especially effective against viruses if chewed raw.
  • Tumeric/curry
  • Manuka honey 
  • Brightly colored vegetables
  • Sulforaphane from foods such as broccoli — Helps boost type 1 interferon response
  • Spirulina 
  • Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) contains a group of flavonoids called catechins, which appear to inhibit viral infections by blocking the enzymes that allow it to reproduce. Green tea has been known to be effective in inhibiting CoronaVirus, herpes simples, and the hepatitis B virus. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a polyphenol from green tea. Because of its broad antiviral effects, EGCG has been proposed as a promising agent for preventing and treating viral infections such as SARS and MERS (Kaihatsu 2018; Hsu 2015).

Effective Treatment COVID-19 Coronavirus infection

Besides supportive care, there are some more aggressive treatment options for when the basic less invasive treatment is not working well. 


  • IV high dose Vitamin C 

Several studies have shown that vitamin C supplementation, both before and soon after the onset of symptoms of upper respiratory tract infections, may help ease symptom burden and reduce the duration of illness (Gorton 1999; Hemilä 1999; Ran 2018). As of March 4th, 2020, a study is slated to take place in Wuhan, China to test the effects of 24-gram intravenous vitamin C infusions on outcomes in COVID-19 patients. The primary outcome will assess ventilation-free days, and one of several secondary outcomes will be 28-day mortality (Peng 2020). Previously, a 2017 case report suggested that high-dose intravenous vitamin C may have contributed to the recovery of a 20-year-old patient with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) due to a viral respiratory tract infection (Fowler 2017). Many of the deaths associated with this viral pneumonia appear to be due to septic shock, and studies suggest high-dose vitamin C infusions can improve outcomes in cases of sepsis and respiratory infections. Early clinical studies have shown that vitamin C can effectively prevent this process. In addition, vitamin C can help to eliminate alveolar fluid by preventing the activation and accumulation of neutrophils, and reducing alveolar epithelial water channel damage, VitaminC can also prevent the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps, which is a biological event of vascular injury caused by neutrophil activation.


  • Dr. Marik’s Sepsis Treatment Protocol: 


Research, published online January 9, 2020, found Marik’s intravenous sepsis protocol that included giving patients 200 mg of thiamine every 12 hours, 1,500 mg of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) every six hours, and 50 mg of hydrocortisone every six hours for two days reduced sepsis mortality from 40% to 8.5% in adults and pediatric patients. The study was performed at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, and as noted by Science Daily, the preliminary data from this study supports a promising outcome.

Nano Silver or Silver Hydrosol is a suspension of pure metallic silver in water as a mixture of positively charged silver ions and silver nanoclusters with particles as small as 0.8 nm (nanometers).  A smaller particle size is desirable due to greater surface area available for conversion to bio-active silver. The smaller the particle, the more bioavailable it becomes, and the greater the surface area available for conversion to positively charged, bio-active silver while within the body. At this less than 1.0 nm size, the silver is over 98% bio active.  Don’t be fooled by the term “true colloidal silver” as it is a marketing term and has no true scientific definition. Although colloidal silver can be made at home with a special generator, we do not recommend it because this is not reliably the correct smaller particle size and has potential concentration safety issues such causing permanent skin discoloration.
