And The Jefferson Award Goes to… Tish Voit, Founder of bliss Spiritual Co-op
Voit had a vision to provide the same sort of inspiration and rejuvenation she
received on spiritual retreats, but she wanted to make this available to all
the people all the time – regardless of income. Her vision was to bring
together the community.
Eight years later, bliss Spiritual Co-op provides a place of peace and community in Mount Pleasant. Hundreds of classes and workshops are offered each month free of charge, although donations are appreciated. There is something for everyone, from art, yoga, contemplative prayer, singalongs, cooking, writing workshops, hypnosis healing, meditation, body sculpting, personal finance and more. Everyone is welcome, and bliss attracts college students, retirees and every age in between.
The Jefferson Awards were founded by former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the early 70s. They honor people in the area of volunteerism and community service. Tish Voit is a worthy recipient for saying yes to the vision that became bliss, which provides healing, inspiration and a sense of community to so many.
